A main shaft, an undercut and a clinching ring with serration and larger diameter. This structure allows the nuts to fit into place and lock themselves into the structure while allowing the bolts and screws to fit into them. The stainless steel self clinching nuts are made in different materials such as 304, 316 and other grades of stainless steels. The sizes of the nuts vary depending on the metallic sheets that they are attached to. The m3 self clinching nut is ideally used in aluminum panels and wooden applications. The sizes can range from M3 to M12 in different applications. There are minimum sheet thicknesses for each nut size.
The 18-8 Stainless Steel hex self clinch nut is one of the most used because of the cost effectiveness of the nut, corrosion resistance, strength and hardness. The hex nuts are used for ease of access with tools. The self locking clinch nuts are beneficial on soft material surfaces as bolts and screws can damage the soft surfaces if driven directly onto them. These nuts act as a strong holding material points at the same time they do not turn after installation while driving the bolts or screws due to the serration that locks the self clinch blind nut in place.
